About the Studio

Flying Fox has been in operation since 1983.

It is a fully professional studio that has been designed by the legendary John Sayers and features 2 recording rooms and a control room.

The Fox has acquired many fine recording toys over the years. We have:

Singing Fox
Pro Tools Recording System
A 24-track Mackie hard disk recorder, a 16-track Fostex analogue recorder and an 8-track Akai hard disk recorder.
A great collection of microphones including a Rode     Classic valve, 2 Rode NT1000’s, 2 NT3’s, 2 NT5’s and the usual gathering of Beyer and Shure mikes.
A Tascam 3500 mixing console.
A Drawmer 1960 valve Pre Amp compressor and 2 x DBX 166 compressors.
A Tascam CD burner
A Sony 2300 DAT player
A huge selection of Sound Effects and Production CDs

Grant Luhrs is the owner of Flying Fox:

“Most of the work we do here is for clients who want to record their own songs either for custom release or demos. So we get all sorts of styles and music genres. We also do lots of voice-over work, digital editing and jingle recording. I have recorded all my 12 CD’s at Flying Fox as well.”
