The Chook Raffle Band is made up of

The band has been performing all round Australia since 1994 and has been (and still are) invited to the all the major CM Festivals including Tamworth, Mildura and the Gympie Muster. In 2007 The Chooky Boys were invited to perform at the Nanning International Folk Festival in China and also the Zhangjiajie International Country Music Week in 2009.

Their shows are a mixture of the silly and the serious.

One of the more famously serious songs that the Chooks do is “Let’s Get a Cow”. It was written in 1980 and is one of the few songs ever written about cows. It still is an important song in the Chooks shows and has not only been recorded by The Chook Raffle Band but also by Lester Coombs, Chad Morgan, The Victorian Police Band and The Queensland Symphony Orchestra!

The Chooks have a sensitive side as well; like the true story of the Luhrs Family acquiring a pet. The song is called “It’s Hard to Be a Cowboy with a Poodle by Your Side”.

The Chook Raffle Band has not been afraid to tackle the difficult social issues through their songs. “Nude Bootscootin” is a song that deals sensitively with overt nudity and line dancing. The song has enjoyed and still does enjoy much success around the world.

The River Island Nature Retreat is a beautiful “Clothing Optional Resort” on the banks of the Wollondilly River near Mittagong. The Chook Raffle Band was invited in 1997 to perform the song at the retreat and 64 nude line dancers created the Inaugural World Line Dancing Record! 

The Chooks are also in steady demand as session musicians; not only in Grant’s Flying Fox Studio but also in studios around Australia.
